Jason and a friend were also seen brushing or slapping the suspect’s head, which prompted the driver to stand up and reach into his pocket.
Seconds later, the video revealed Jason holding his side as blood began to seep through his shirt. Barangay 310 Kagawad Ryan Lacsina described the confrontation, noting how the situation escalated without warning.
“Siyempre naghahanap buhay. Ayun, napagtripan [yung] nakaupo doon. Sa kili-kili, tatlo ang tama eh… Kahit sino naman na-provoke, gaganti at gaganti,” he said.
Jason was rushed to the hospital but died three hours later due to multiple stab wounds in his armpit area.
Authorities reported that Jovel surrendered voluntarily after the incident and is now facing a h&micide complaint.
Police also learned from witnesses that the two men had a prior conflict. According to them, tension had been brewing because Jovel was now in a relationship with Jason’s former girlfriend.
The case has drawn public attention, with many pointing out how a brief outburst of aggression and unresolved personal grudges can escalate into a fatal confrontation.
