A young volleyball player from Alas Pilipinas lost his life after a bus struck the motorcycle he was driving in Negros Occidental.

The incident happened on Tuesday in Cadiz City, according to a report by Adrian Prietos of GMA Regional TV.
The impact was so strong that Ike Barilea suffered serious injuries to his chest and back, which led to his death.
Police Lieutenant Mansueto de Jose, deputy chief of the Cadiz City Police Station, said the driver miscalculated and hit the rear part of the motorcycle, causing Ike to be thrown off.
He explained that the driver failed to judge the distance and clipped the bike.
Ike’s family is grieving deeply. His aunt, Angelic Barilea, said she wished the driver had been more careful and expressed how painful the loss is to them.
His grandmother, Cheryl Javier, also shared her heartbreak, saying she would have taken his place if she could.
Police said the bus driver was released because the reglementary period for filing charges had already passed.
Despite this, the family plans to move forward with filing a complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in hom*cide once Ike’s remains arrive from Manila.
