Two policemen dead after shooting incident inside Abra Police quarters

A tragic shooting incident inside the quarters of the Bangued Police Station in Abra claimed the lives of two policemen who were members of the Provincial Explosive and Canine Unit (PECU) last Monday.

According to a report by GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon, initial findings revealed that Police Lieutenant Jamieson Bulatao, the officer-in-charge and PECU–Abra team leader, allegedly shot his fellow officer, Police Staff Sergeant O’Neal Ryan Calica, without warning.

Calica sustained four gunshot wounds to the chest and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

After shooting Calica, Bulatao reportedly turned his firearm toward another colleague, Police Staff Master Sergeant Edwin Bandoc, who managed to fire back.

Bandoc’s shot hit Bulatao in the chest, resulting in the latter’s death.

Following the confrontation, Bandoc surrendered to authorities but has yet to release an official statement. Investigators said he may still face charges as part of due process.

olice Major Graeme Boy Javier, chief of the Bangued Police Station, said the investigation is ongoing.

“Wala pa tayong nakikitang motibo kung ano ‘yung totoong dahilan. Sa inisyal nating imbestigasyon, mayroong matagal nang hindi pagkakaintindihan itong si Calica at si Bulatao,” Javier explained.

Police continue to gather more details to determine what led to the fatal encounter between the two officers.

In another viral local report, a 51-year-old public school teacher in Las Piñas City was stabbed multiple times by her own husband. According to the report of EJ Gomez in 'Unang Balita,' the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school's faculty room. Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big argument.
