Twin children among three killed in Nueva Vizcaya as super typhoon “Uwan” batters northern Luzon

Three people, including a pair of five-year-old twins, were confirmed dead in Nueva Vizcaya after Super Typhoon “Uwan” unleashed powerful winds and heavy rains across northern Luzon on Sunday.

According to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Region 2, the victims were from the municipality of Kayapa.
In an interview with Super Radyo DZBB, OCD Region 2 spokesperson Alvin Ayson said, “Yung dalawang nasawi ay confirmed. Ito ay kambal na natabunan ng lupa.”
Three other members of the same family were rushed to the Lt. Tidang Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Authorities are still working to identify the third fatality.
“Suspetya namin, ito ay caused ng landslide also kasi mostly ng incidents natin sa (Nueva) Vizcaya ay landslide. However, we are still confirming with NDRRMO,” Ayson added.
The typhoon’s impact was severe across Cagayan Valley, forcing the evacuation of about 6,000 families or 18,116 individuals from 342 barangays.
Flooding and landslides rendered three national roads and eight local roads impassable, while 23 bridges were submerged or damaged after rivers overflowed.
In Tuguegarao City, water levels at the Cagayan River reached 9.9 meters at the Buntun Bridge — surpassing the critical level of 9 meters.
As of PAGASA’s 11 a.m. bulletin, the Cagayan Valley region, including Nueva Vizcaya, remained under Signal No. 2. Earlier, OCD also reported two fatalities in Catanduanes and Samar due to the same super typhoon.

Caught by CCTV, three men entered their store, closed the roll-up door, and shot the entire family to death. Before fleeing, one of the suspects even grabbed a bag and a mobile phone from the victim. In a report by Gary De Leon of TV 5's 'Frontline Pilipinas,' the family started getting threats after lending P1-M to one of the residents of their barangay; allegedly using the money for business.
In another viral local report, a 51-year-old public school teacher in Las Piñas City was stabbed multiple times by her own husband. According to the report of EJ Gomez in 'Unang Balita,' the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school's faculty room. Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
