The incident was recorded on video and went viral online.
The Department of Transportation said the officer was swerving while driving and was still wearing his police uniform.
The agency stressed that the bicycle lane is only for bikers and not for motorcycles.
The LTO also called in the police officer and the registered owner of the motorcycle.
They must explain why his license should not be suspended permanently.
The officer may also face charges for failing to wear a helmet and for not following traffic signs.
Acting DOTr Secretary Giovanni Lopez reminded the public that everyone must follow road rules.
He said the President has repeatedly asked the public to be disciplined on the road to keep everyone safe.
Lopez added that violations will be punished, even if the person is a police officer who is expected to help enforce the law.
When a driver’s license in the Philippines is suspended for 90 days, the person is not allowed to drive any vehicle during that period.
If they continue to drive while suspended and get caught, they may face heavier penalties, including a longer suspension, higher fines, or even permanent cancellation of their license.
The driver is usually required to appear before the Land Transportation Office for a hearing to explain the violation.
After the 90 days, the driver must comply with any requirements set by the LTO before the license is reinstated, such as paying fines or attending a seminar on road safety.
The purpose of the suspension is to remind drivers to follow traffic rules and improve discipline on the road.
