Five people were hurt after a pickup truck fell off the side of the road in Sigma, Capiz.

The accident happened when the vehicle suddenly lost control and plunged into a roadside area.

According to a report by GMA Regional TV’s Balitanghali on Tuesday, police found that the 50-year-old driver may have dozed off while behind the wheel, causing him to lose control of the steering.

Witnesses told authorities the pickup was moving at a high speed before the accident occurred.

The impact left all five passengers with injuries, though no one else was involved in the incident.

Police confirmed that no other vehicles or pedestrians were affected. The pickup sustained visible damage from the fall.

As of now, the driver and the passengers have not yet issued any official statement regarding the crash.

Investigation continues to determine whether fatigue or overspeeding was the main cause of the accident.

If a road accident in the Philippines involves only one car and no one dies, but people were injured, authorities will still treat it as a traffic incident that requires investigation.

The police will respond to the scene to check the condition of the victims, document what happened, and secure the area to prevent further accidents.

If the injuries are not serious, the victims may be brought to the nearest hospital for treatment, while the driver may be asked to give a statement.
