A pregnant dog in San Mateo, Rizal survived after being hit by a van that her owner believes intentionally ran her over.
The horrifying incident happened on November 1 and was captured by CCTV while no one was home.
The video showed the dog lying on the road as a van maneuvered nearby. Moments later, the vehicle moved forward and hit the dog’s head, causing it to shake in pain. The van briefly stopped, reversed, then drove forward again. The driver appeared to look at the dog before leaving the scene.
According to the owner, Bea Cabariban, no one was home when it happened, and their seven-year-old dog had accidentally gone outside.

She said the dog survived the attack but lost one of her eyes, which had to be removed to prevent infection.
Bea said her pet was also pregnant, and thankfully, her condition was not affected by the accident.
Believing the driver acted intentionally, Bea reported the case to the police and coordinated with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) after getting the van’s plate number.
Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF) said the driver could face serious charges under the Animal Welfare Act if proven guilty of intentionally harming the dog.
AKF Program Director Atty. Heidi Marquez added that the driver may also face sanctions from the LTO, which could include the revocation of his driver’s license.
