The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) filed administrative charges on Tuesday against 11 police officers connected to the missing sabungeros case.
The officers were also accused of being involved in other abductions that took place in 2021.
According to NAPOLCOM’s Inspection Monitoring and Investigation Service (IMES), the charges were filed before the Legal Affairs Service after investigators found probable cause.
IMES Staff Service Director Edman Pares said during a press conference that they discovered evidence pointing to a possible kidnapping, which led them to file two counts of grave misconduct.

He also mentioned that they filed two counts of conduct unbecoming of a police officer because of the same actions.
The charges came after the parents of missing persons Charles Dean Sotto and Dane Mark Carlos filed a complaint-affidavit last September.
These cases added to the growing investigation into the disappearance of several cockfighting enthusiasts, or sabungeros, who went missing in recent years.
In July, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said it was looking into the possible connection between the missing sabungeros and extrajudicial killings during the government’s drug war.
Former Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated that some individuals involved in contract killings might also have ties to both the drug war and e-sabong operations.
Authorities continue to dig deeper into the case to uncover the truth behind the series of disappearances and alleged police involvement.
