In a strong and impassioned statement, Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya formally condemned the "cruel and despicable act," asserting the city's firm commitment to pursuing justice for the minor.

The victim's body was found in a grassy area behind the Pope John Paul II Tower in Barangay 12, a location that has historically been a focal point for city development.

This violent crime has sent a shiver through the community, prompting an urgent and escalated response from the local government.

Mayor Gasataya minced no words in his official statement, emphasizing that the heinous crime is "beyond reason and demands swift, decisive, and uncompromising justice."

The mayor acknowledged the depth of the tragedy, extending the city’s sincerest condolences to the bereaved family in their time of "unbearable pain."

He assured them that the City Government is mobilizing every possible resource and form of assistance to aid them in their pursuit of truth and accountability.

The city government has formally coordinated with the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), urging them to exhaust every resource and pursue every lead until the culprits are definitively identified and brought to justice.

The Mayor’s message to the criminals was unambiguous: "No one capable of such cruelty will ever find refuge in our city."

The victim's "boy best friend" received strange messages from her account before her death, including an unusual request for money and a misspelling of their call sign. The police are investigating the final, suspicious communications to determine if the account was already being used by a perpetrator.

In other news, arrest warrants have been served against two suspects in the r@pe and killing of a Slovak national in Boracay last March 2025. The suspects were identified as Rajel Lacorte, 29, and Ronald Saron, 38, both residents of Boracay Island. Police arrested the two men separately on October 20 after closely monitoring their movements. The Slovak tourist was found dead in an abandoned chapel two days after being reported missing.
