A 9-year-old boy from Zamboanga City received vaccination after being bitten by his neighbor’s pet monkey.
The incident happened in Barangay Capisan, according to a report from GMA Regional TV’s Balitanghali on Wednesday.
Barangay officials said the child had been told many times not to go near the monkey but did not listen.
After the bite, the monkey’s owner immediately took responsibility and brought the boy to a nearby hospital for treatment and vaccination.

The boy developed a fever after receiving the shots but recovered later on. The incident raised concerns in the neighborhood, prompting the authorities to take action.
The owner has since turned over the pet monkey to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for proper care and monitoring.
The World Health Organization reminds the public to clean any wound from an animal bite or scratch right away.
It should be washed with soap and water for 10 to 15 minutes and cleaned with alcohol or a 70-percent ethanol solution.
Health experts also advise bringing the patient to the nearest hospital immediately after an animal bite or scratch.
Rabies vaccination and other treatments should be given as needed to prevent infection or possible complications.
