The entire shocking episode—from the forced entry to the quiet, methodical theft—was captured on CCTV.

The crime took place early on a Tuesday morning in Barangay Cupang, Antipolo City.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Henry Garcia, the officer-in-charge of the Antipolo Component City Police Station, the suspect, identified as a 17-year-old boy, gained access by forcibly breaking the door knob of the residence.

Security footage reviewed by investigators shows the teenager carefully monitoring his surroundings just past 5:00 a.m., moving with chilling confidence while the victim remained deeply asleep.

The silence of the morning and the deep slumber of the resident created the perfect, horrifying opportunity for the crime.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Garcia detailed the sequence of events with a note of stunned disbelief: “Dahan-dahang pumunta kung saan natutulog ‘yung biktima at kinuha ‘yung wallet under doon sa higaan niya. Kinuha ‘yung cash. Pagkakuha noong pera, ibinalik pa niya ‘yung wallet doon sa drawer. May konsensya pa po ano?”

The detail about the suspect returning the empty wallet adds a disturbing layer of calculation to the crime, suggesting a cold, almost surgical efficiency.

The victim, who was utterly unaware of the intrusion until he woke up, was robbed of an estimated P9,000 in cash.

Upon discovering the missing money, the 40-year-old victim immediately sought help from the local barangay officials, who in turn alerted the police.

The combined effort of the barangay and the Philippine National Police (PNP) successfully led to the apprehension of the 17-year-old suspect at his home, which was, remarkably, located in the same village.

However, due to his age, the legal process dictates a path of restorative justice rather than immediate incarceration.

The teenager is classified as a Child in Conflict with the Law (CICL) and was subsequently turned over to the Bahay Pag-asa, a youth care facility.

As Police Lieutenant Colonel Garcia explained, the legal framework prioritizes rehabilitation for minors: “Kasi sa ganito po under sa Juvenile Act of 2006, more on restoration tayo, restorative approach sa mga ganito kaso. Doon muna po siya.”
