Authorities are pursuing a barangay captain in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, after he allegedly shot and killed his neighbor during a heated dispute over a videoke session.

The incident occurred on Friday night in Barangay San Jose, where the suspect serves as the barangay chairman.
According to a report by Jonathan Andal on "GMA News’ 24 Oras," the barangay official was reportedly drinking and singing videoke when the victim confronted him, leading to a verbal altercation.
As the confrontation escalated, the victim began recording the exchange on video.

“Habang kinukuhanan ng video ng biktima ang pagtatalo, bigla siyang binaril ng suspek sa dibdib,” the report stated. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
CCTV footage showed the suspect fleeing the area shortly after the shooting, prompting a manhunt by the Dasmariñas police. Authorities have already filed charges against him for the killing.
Meanwhile, the victim’s grieving wife has called on the barangay captain to face the consequences of his actions. She appealed for justice and urged the suspect to surrender peacefully to law enforcement.
The shocking incident has sparked outrage in the community, as residents demand accountability from the local official who was expected to uphold peace and order in the barangay.
