A 54-year-old UV Express driver is facing multiple charges after causing a chain-reaction crash along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City on Friday morning, October 17.

According to the Quezon City Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit, the UV Express rammed into 13 motorcycles and one car, leaving extensive damage and killing a delivery rider.
Seven others were injured, including criminology student Ricardo Alean Aganon.
CCTV footage from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) showed the UV Express continuing to drive even while dragging a motorcycle beneath it.

“In a road rage case, there’s usually a prior altercation, but we haven’t established that yet. What’s clear is that this was a hit-and-run,” said PLTCOL. Geoffrey Lyndon Pati Lim, chief of DTEU-QCPD.

The victim’s sister, Jade Villagracia, said, “My brother was hit on the third round. His whole body was crushed by a wheel... When we asked the driver why he did it, he showed no remorse.”
Meanwhile, Aganon commented, “It’s not normal for someone to keep hitting people. When you hit one, you stop. His intent was to hit.”
The driver is now detained at QCPD Traffic Sector 5. “For all the wrong I’ve done, I’m sorry. I didn’t know what I was doing,” the suspect said.
His wife added that he has been taking medic@tion for hypertension, asthma, and Bell’s palsy.
