The shocking incident was captured in detail by a nearby CCTV system, providing key footage to investigators.

The video shows the suspect pulling up on his motorcycle directly in front of the parked SUV. He then dismounted, quickly approached the vehicle, and placed what appeared to be a piece of cloth, likely soaked in a flammable liquid, on the SUV’s hood.

The rider then poured a liquid substance over the cloth and immediately ignited it before rapidly speeding away on his motorbike. Within moments, the front end of the SUV was engulfed in a ferocious blaze.

The vehicle’s owner, Bianca Castañeda, who resides in the house directly across from where the SUV was parked, recounted the terrifying moment she realized what was happening.

"Nagpa-panic na yung mga tao sa bahay," Castañeda shared. "Nakita ko na lang po sa bintana, kasi yung kuwarto ko po nakaharap po sa kotse. Nakita ko na lang po ang laki ng sunog."

Firefighters quickly responded to the emergency call, but by the time they extinguished the fire, the entire front section of the SUV was heavily damaged, or "tosted" as described in the local report. The damage is extensive and is believed to have rendered the vehicle inoperable.

The perplexing nature of the crime is what troubles the victim’s family most. Castañeda insisted that they do not know who would want to harm them or their property, offering no immediate clues for investigators to pursue.

"Wala naman po kaming kaaway. Wala naman kaming maisip kung sinong puwedeng gumawa kasi tahimik naman po kami," she added. " And wala naman po kaming nakakaaway sa daan na posible."

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has launched an in-depth investigation into the incident. QCPD spokesperson Police Captain Febie Madrid confirmed that a specialized tracker team is currently reviewing all available CCTV footage from the surrounding area. The immediate priority is to identify the perpetrator and his specific motorcycle.

"We are conducting an in-depth investigation," Captain Madrid stated. " Nagsasagawa na rin yung ating mga tracker team sa pagre-review ng mga CCTV footage sa lugar… Para matukoy ang suspect at the same time yung kanyang sinakyang motorsiklo."

The police are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the arsonist, emphasizing their commitment to solving this unsettling case of malicious mischief.
