Suspect in Sampaloc burglary arrested in Quezon City

Authorities in Quezon City have arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of breaking into a couple’s house in Sampaloc, Manila, and stealing money and gadgets.

According to a report by Jhomer Apresto of GMA Integrated News, CCTV footage captured the suspect walking along Ventura Street at around 2 a.m. last Saturday.

The video showed him suddenly entering a house’s gate and emerging five minutes later, hurriedly walking away with several items in hand.

The victims, a couple, were reportedly fast asleep during the break-in. “It seems they forgot to close the door.

Maybe they were tired from work and fell into a deep sleep, so they were robbed without realizing it,” said Barangay official Fe Dulay.

Barangay officials said the suspect was not a resident of the area and may have just been passing through.

Based on the investigation of the Sampaloc Police Station, the suspect took a laptop, cellphones, and other items worth around P200,000. He also stole a bag, watch, IDs, ATM, and credit cards.

In a follow-up operation, police tracked the suspect to a gadget shop in Quezon City. Recovered from him were a cellphone and a laptop, though two more phones, a watch, and several cards have yet to be found.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Sampaloc Police and is facing theft charges while authorities continue their investigation.
