According to a report by James Paolo Yap on GMA Regional TV One Mindanao on Monday, police investigations revealed that the victim had come from Barangay Bayabas before boarding the jeepney.
Upon reaching Barangay Patag, another passenger suddenly attacked him with a knife. The victim fell out of the vehicle after being stabbed and was declared dead on the spot.
Police Major Peter Tajor, commander of Police Station 4, said that the suspect had already boarded the jeepney at its terminal in Barangay Bulua.

Without any apparent provocation, he lunged forward and stabbed the victim, who was seated at the front.
Authorities later identified the suspect and tracked him to his residence in Barangay Carmen.
Further investigation showed that both the victim and the suspect had come from Barangay Bayabas, suggesting that the suspect had intentionally followed his target before the fatal encounter.
Investigators are looking into a personal grudge as the likely motive behind the killing. The suspect, who remains in police custody, has refused to issue any statement regarding the incident.
Police have filed a murder charge against the suspect as the investigation continues to determine the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
