Woman caught on CCTV stealing cellphone in Manila printing shop

A woman was caught on CCTV stealing a cellphone from a printing shop guard in Tondo, Manila, on Sunday morning.

The footage showed the female suspect pausing as she walked along Blumentritt Road past 6 a.m. She then moved closer to the printing shop, seemingly observing the area. Within seconds, she quickly grabbed the cellphone beside the guard and fled.

According to RJ Alipat, the shop owner, the victim was his nephew who had dozed off while watching a K-drama.

“'Yung mga tricycle dito may nag-ano na dito, nakita na nila, napansin, akala customer lang,” Alipat said.

He added this was already the third time their guards had been victimized inside the shop. In previous CCTV clips from recent months, another man was seen buying cigarettes before stealing the phone of a guard who was also asleep.

Another incident even cost Alipat his savings.

“Actually noong nakuhanan ako ng barya, almost P15,000 po 'yun, kasi iniipon ko po 'yung baryang 'yun,” he recalled.

Because of repeated thefts, Alipat decided to install CCTV cameras in the shop.

Barangay officials confirmed that the latest suspect is not a resident of their area.

“Yes po, pagka ano, tsaka may mga pulis, kasama namin 'yan, bina-bactrack ho namin 'yan," said Barangay 209 Kagawad Anthony Benoza.

Benoza also reminded the public to stay vigilant and safeguard their belongings, especially during the holiday season.

Still in other news, a taxi was severely damaged after a large tree fell on it inside Araneta City, Cubao, Quezon City.
