The incident, which took place in Barangay Ibayo Tipas, points to a sophisticated setup, as one of the victims suspects that a person he had been transacting with online was a member of the armed robbery group.

CCTV footage obtained by authorities shows the shocking sequence of events. The two jewelry dealers, who had arrived for a meeting with a supposed gold dealer they had coordinated with over the internet, were immediately ambushed by a group of four suspects, three of whom were aboard two motorcycles.

The footage captures the victims being chased, with one of the suspects pointing a firearm directly at a dealer.

The victim is seen stumbling, losing grip of his bag, which was instantly snatched by one of the robbers. Before fleeing, the perpetrator is also seen aggressively taking an item—possibly more cash or jewelry—from the victim’s hand.

The total amount stolen, according to initial reports from the barangay, is estimated to be over P3 million, which includes a separate bag containing over P100,000 taken from the second jewelry dealer.

The barangay confirmed that the primary victim went to the area specifically to meet a man he had contacted online who was allegedly selling gold.

This detail has led the jeweler to strongly believe that the online contact was complicit in the robbery, turning the planned meeting into a meticulously executed trap.

"Ang initial po sa amin, ang sabi ay mahigit tatlong milyon," said German Sagat, Chief of the Barangay Security Force (BSF) in Ibayo-Tipas.

He stressed the importance of public safety and coordination, issuing a stern warning to those involved in high-value online selling: "Mas maganda po pagkaganiyan, paalala ko lang sa mga nago-online selling, lalo kung malalaking halaga ang dala na nilang pera, makipag-coordinate sila sa kinauukulan."

The brazen escape was partially thwarted when the victims' driver attempted to intervene. A separate CCTV angle shows the driver of the victims’ car slamming into the motorcycle carrying two of the robbers, causing them to fall and abandon their vehicle.

Undeterred, the two fleeing suspects quickly carried out an even more reckless act: they brandished a gun at another innocent motorcycle rider, violently stealing his vehicle to continue their escape.

The Taguig City Police Station has since taken custody of the abandoned motorcycle and is actively conducting an investigation to identify and apprehend all four suspects.

The case highlights the escalating risks associated with private, high-value online transactions and the need for buyers and sellers to choose secure, public locations or, better yet, coordinate with local law enforcement to safeguard themselves against such armed ambushes.
