Mariel Padilla recently shared a glimpse into the formal oath-taking of the new officers and members of the Senate Spouses Foundation, Inc. (SSFI), highlighting the organization’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its initiatives and programs.

The event, held on September 25, marked a key moment for the foundation as it welcomed its new leadership under the guidance of its newly appointed president, Helen Gamboa-Sotto.

The SSFI, known for its commitment to advocacy and public service, formally introduced its new set of officers and members, with Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III administering the oath of office. The new officers include Ms. Helen G. Sotto as President, Ms. Ciara Anna G. Sotto as Acting President, Ms. Audrey Kay T. Zubiri as Vice President, Atty. Erwin Genuino as Secretary, Ms. Nancy C. Dela Rosa as Assistant Secretary, Ms. Maricel P. Tulfo as Treasurer, Ms. Gladys P. Cruz as Assistant Treasurer, Atty. Emmeline A. Villar as Legal Counsel, Ms. Mariel Padilla as Public Relations Officer, and GM Mark Lapid also as Public Relations Officer.

In addition to the leadership roles, committee chairmanships were designated to advance SSFI’s advocacy programs. Ms. Fatima Aquino will oversee the Health and Education Committee, Mayor Lani Cayetano will head the Local Government Committee, Ms. Vanessa Era will lead the Women’s Committee, while Ms. Presentacion V. Ejercito and Ms. Edna Marcoleta will manage Social and Public Services. The Youth Committee will be chaired by Ms. Simone Francesca Emmanuelle C. Pangilinan, ensuring that the foundation continues its outreach to younger sectors, according to a report by Inquirer.net.

The actor-turned-politician also addressed the false claim on Facebook, sharing images from the viral moment and clarifying the meaning of the gesture.
Earlier, Senator Robin Padilla’s office clarified his hand gesture during the national anthem after some netizens mistook it for a dirty finger. His chief of staff Atty. Philip Jurado said Padilla would never do such a gesture and explained it was his index finger pointing upward.
