At 27, Daniel Villamor Quisa-ot of Bukidnon has turned a painful chapter of his life into a remarkable story of resilience and faith. Once a Department of Science and Technology scholar, Dean’s Lister, and quiz champion, his academic path was cut short when he was convicted of a crime and sent to prison.

But Daniel did not let incarceration define him. Against all odds, he completed his degree in Electrical Engineering while behind bars and later went on to pass four board examinations of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

Born to a farmer, Daniel’s humble beginnings shaped his drive.

“I was once a farmer's son in our place, who tend carabaos and cows in the farm and on the side, musician at the church in our community,” he recalled.

His passion for music led him to engineering, inspired by a vision during prayer.

Life in jail, however, tested him deeply. “I can endure physical pain but the emotional pain to stop studying, be separated from my loving family and be put into a 180 degrees opposite environment was hard,” he admitted.

Finding a Bible in his bag reminded him to keep faith and pursue his goals.

Seven months later, with the support of his university, professors, family, and even the provincial warden, Daniel was allowed to finish his last semester.

As a jail trustee, he balanced duties with long nights of studying, relying only on books and lessons delivered during visits.

Despite moments of doubt, he persevered. His determination paid off—earning licenses as Electrical Engineer (2021), Master Electrician (2021), Registered Master Plumber (2023), and Certified Plant Mechanic (2024).

Daniel’s journey stands as a testament to redemption, faith, and the power of education to transform lives.
