According to a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday, the impact was so strong that the closed van was pushed several meters forward until it collided with a turtle cab, also known as a “bao-bao.”
The collision did not end there, as a motorcycle was also pinned underneath the two larger vehicles.
The force of the crash created panic in the area, with bystanders running for safety as the vehicles continued moving uncontrollably.
The truck and the van only came to a full stop after crashing into the wall of the Makilala municipal hall.
Fortunately, despite the frightening scene, authorities confirmed that no one was seriously injured in the incident.
This spared the town from what could have been a far more tragic outcome.
The driver of the cement mixer truck admitted that the accident occurred after his vehicle’s brakes failed, leaving him unable to control the heavy truck.
Local officials and authorities are now assessing the damage to the vehicles and the municipal property, while also investigating the truck’s condition to determine whether mechanical failure or possible negligence played a role in the incident.
