According to the victim's family, he was not even scheduled to work on the day of the incident but decided to go to the company's main office in Ortigas for a farewell celebration organized by his colleagues.
The Meralco employee was riding a company vehicle on Abad Santos Avenue in Barangay Salitran 3 when he got into an altercation with the driver of a red car.
Police investigators were able to trace the vehicle through its plate number, which was captured on CCTV footage.
The footage reportedly shows the two vehicles stopping face-to-face on the road. After a brief moment, the red car is seen driving away, leaving the Meralco employee behind, who was shot and fatally wounded.
Police Master Sergeant Wilfred Guevarra, an investigator with the Dasmariñas PNP, confirmed that they have identified the suspect.
Through the car's registered owner, they were able to trace the vehicle to its new owner, who resides in the same barangay where the shooting took place.
However, when police arrived at the suspect's residence, he had already fled the area.
