Sixteen people were injured after a passenger jeepney lost its brakes and slammed into an electric post along Camarin Road in Barangay 175, Caloocan City, on Thursday morning, August 28, 2025, authorities reported.

According to Caloocan Rescue, the jeepney driver lost control of the vehicle after its brakes failed. In an attempt to avoid hitting other vehicles and pedestrians, the driver deliberately crashed the jeep into a post.
All the victims, including the driver, were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Responders said one passenger sitting beside the driver suffered a crushed leg after being pinned inside the vehicle.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns over road safety and the condition of public utility vehicles in the country.
