A 74-year-old woman was injured after being hit by an SUV in a hit-and-run incident while crossing a pedestrian lane along A.

Bonifacio Avenue in Marikina. The victim, identified as Dolores De Gala, was on her way home from a relative’s house when the accident happened in the early hours of Saturday.

She recalled not seeing any car before suddenly being struck, saying she was shocked when the SUV hit her and the driver continued without stopping.

Lola Dolores suffered a deep cut on her forehead that needed nine stitches, along with scrapes on her side and knees.

Despite her injuries, she was still able to call her sibling for help.

Responders from Barangay Tañong immediately came to her aid.

Barangay Captain Danny Del Castillo said a rider who chased the SUV gave them the plate number and evidence of damage to the vehicle, which strengthened their case.

According to the victim’s family, the SUV involved was already listed for sale online even before the accident happened.

The police are now tracking down the registered vehicle while identifying who was driving at the time of the hit-and-run.

Lola Dolores and her family are appealing to the driver to surrender and face the consequences.

She expressed her pain and disappointment, saying she thought pedestrian lanes were supposed to be safe but realized otherwise after the incident.

Meanwhile, Marikina police continue their investigation and pursuit of the suspect.
