The young victim was injured in the fall, which occurred on a Saturday night in Pasay City.

The viral footage, widely shared on social media, shows a horrifying moment as the rear door of the white AUV suddenly swings open, and a small child tumbles out onto the busy road.

Miraculously, the child quickly got back on their feet and stumbled toward the side of the road, visibly crying.

As the vehicle came to a stop, a man and a woman rushed out to attend to the child. A witness, who recorded the incident, noted that the child appeared to have sustained a visible wound on their arm.

While the exact cause of the door opening remains unclear from the video, a motorist at the scene claimed the child might have opened the door themselves.

Regardless of the reason, the incident has raised alarms among the public and safety experts about the potential for a far worse tragedy.

The bustling thoroughfare, known for its heavy traffic, could have led to a catastrophic accident involving other motorists.

The incident highlights the critical need for compliance with Republic Act 11229, also known as the Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act.

This law mandates that all children aged 12 and below must be secured in a child restraint system, or car seat, to ensure their safety while traveling.

The law specifically aims to prevent injuries and fatalities from sudden stops, collisions, or incidents like the one that occurred.

Safety expert Louie Domingo, the director of the Emergency Management Center, emphasized the dangers of the situation in a televised report.

He pointed out that the incident was not only a serious risk to the child but also a potential hazard to other drivers on the road.

Domingo stressed that even without a child restraint system, the use of a vehicle’s child lock function is crucial in preventing such accidents.

He noted that parents and guardians should be vigilant in activating this feature, which prevents rear doors from being opened from the inside.

As the family of the child recovers from the traumatic experience, the viral video serves as a powerful reminder to all parents and guardians to prioritize the safety of their young passengers by adhering to safety regulations and taking necessary precautions to prevent a similar, and potentially fatal, incident.
