A man was killed after being stabbed by his nephew while asleep in Bacolod City. Police said the attack stemmed from the suspect’s suspicion that the victim had an interest in his live-in partner.

According to a report by GMA Regional TV’s Balitanghali on Wednesday, investigations revealed that the suspect repeatedly stabbed the victim while he was sleeping inside their home in Barangay Sum-ag on Monday.

The victim sustained multiple wounds to his chest and back. Authorities believe the suspect had a strong intent to kill, as he did not stop stabbing even while relatives attempted to restrain him.

The suspect fled the scene but was quickly captured with the assistance of concerned residents in the area.

Meanwhile, the victim’s wife denied the suspect’s allegation that her husband had romantic intentions toward the suspect’s live-in partner.

“That’s not true,” she said, dismissing the claims as baseless.

The suspect’s father admitted to police that his son had been using illegal dru&s, which may have influenced his violent behavior.

Currently, the suspect has refused to issue any statement regarding the incident. He is now facing a charge of murder.

The case has alarmed residents in the community, who expressed concern about dru&-related violence and disputes within families escalating into deadly attacks.

Authorities emphasized the importance of strengthening efforts to curb dru& use and to address domestic conflicts before they lead to tragic outcomes.
