The family was trapped by the flames in the early hours of Tuesday morning, leaving them with no choice but to jump to safety.

The fire broke out around 3:03 AM on Tuesday, August 19, in Barangay 91, Tondo. According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the blaze engulfed the fourth floor of a residential building, trapping a family of three inside.

Faced with a rapidly advancing fire and no clear escape route, the mother made the heroic decision to drop her two minor-aged children before following them to the ground.

The father, Ariel Aguilar, recounted the horrifying moments, saying he was frantically searching for a way out when he was separated from his wife and children.

"I was looking for a way to get out... I didn't make it back," he said in an interview. He was only informed later that his family had jumped from the building to save themselves.

The mother and her children were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently being treated for their injuries. Their condition remains under close medical supervision.

Firefighters from the BFP quickly responded to the alarm, but their efforts were hampered by the extremely narrow streets of the residential area.

The limited access for fire trucks made it difficult for them to get close to the building and efficiently extinguish the flames.

Despite these challenges, the BFP was able to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to other units and causing a more widespread disaster.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and BFP officials are conducting a thorough probe to determine what triggered the blaze.

While the quick thinking of the mother saved her family, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by fires in densely populated urban areas, where escape routes can be limited and access for emergency services is often restricted.

The case highlights the importance of fire safety precautions and the need for communities to have clear evacuation plans in place.
