The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned a motorcycle rider after a video of him dancing on top of his motorcycle during the viral “boat dance challenge” spread on social media.
The rider, a resident of Binondo, Manila, posted the video on his own Facebook page, showing him dancing in the middle of traffic.
Because of the dangerous act, the LTO suspended his driver’s license for 90 days. A show cause order was also issued to him and to the registered owner of the motorcycle.
According to the order signed by LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division Chief Renante Melitante, the rider must submit a written explanation on why he should not be considered an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.

This violation carries a maximum penalty of permanent revocation of his driver’s license.
The LTO has scheduled a hearing on August 20, and the rider is also required to surrender his license before that date.
The order warns that failure to attend the hearing or submit the written explanation will be taken as a waiver of his right to be heard, and the case will be decided based solely on the available evidence.
The agency reminded motorists that such reckless behavior endangers not only the rider but also other road users.
It stressed that social media challenges should never be done in a way that violates traffic rules or compromises safety.
