A 46-year-old man was arrested after his attempted hostage-taking was foiled early Wednesday morning in Baliwag City, Bulacan.
The incident happened at around 1:43 a.m. on August 13, 2025, near the city’s public market, causing alarm among nearby residents.
A video posted on Facebook by Raincel Uy showed the suspect holding a 16-year-old vendor at knifepoint and threatening to stab her.
Police Master Sergeant Francis Damian from the Baliwag Police Station quickly responded, managing to stop the suspect before he could harm the victim.

Residents also stepped in to subdue the man after the officer’s intervention.
Police investigation revealed that before the hostage incident, the suspect had already attacked a woman who was simply walking along the street and stabbed a security guard.
Authorities said he had been chased by multiple people and claimed he had not slept for two nights, which he used to explain his actions.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Baliwag Police Station and is facing charges of attempted homicide along with violations of Republic Act 7610, also known as the Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
