The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 3 - Central Luzon, together with the Women and Children’s Protection Desk of the Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPO), successfully rescued children from an alleged abusive care facility in Mexico, Pampanga.
According to a Facebook post from the DSWD, the rescue involved children under the care of New Life Baptist Church of Mexico, Pampanga Inc. (NLBCMPI), headed by Pastor Jeremy Ferguson.
Authorities discovered the children living in poor and unsafe conditions.
The facility had gates with barbed wires, overcrowded sleeping areas, dirty restrooms, and fire hazards that put the children at risk.

The funds were reportedly mismanaged, and the facility had problems with its registration, license to operate, and accreditation.
Investigations also revealed that the children may have experienced physical, verbal, and psychological abuse.
In response, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian and DSWD FO-3 Regional Director Venus Rebuldela issued a Cease and Desist Order against the facility.
The rescued children are now under the care of the Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC), where they have been assured of safety.
They also underwent assessments with the help of social workers from DSWD FO-3.
Meanwhile, the pastor and the facility’s director have been arrested.
