Sales lady killed in robbery at Laguna gadget shop

A 27-year-old sales lady was killed in a robbery at a gadget shop in Barangay Mamatid, Cabuyao City, on Monday, just a week after the store opened.

Police Capt. Arnel Villanueva of the Cabuyao Component City Police said the suspect entered the shop at the same time as the victim.
The store’s roll-up door was half-closed, preventing passersby from immediately seeing what was happening inside.
Investigators believe the stabbing occurred inside before the suspect looted the shop.

Despite her injuries, the victim managed to call her manager to report the incident and ask for help.
The victim suffered stab wounds to the left side of her neck, shoulder, and abdomen.
The suspect fled with 26 cellphones worth ₱71,200 and ₱21,747 in cash. Authorities confirmed that the shop, having opened only a week earlier, had no CCTV installed.
Police are now tracking a person of interest in the case.
The getaway motorcycle, seen on nearby CCTV carrying a sack, was later found at the home of the suspect’s sibling, but the man was not there.
Authorities are pursuing leads and gathering more evidence to strengthen their case.
Should the person of interest be confirmed as the perpetrator, he may face robbery with h&micide charges.
The incident has raised safety concerns among business owners, highlighting the need for security measures in newly opened establishments.

Still in other news, four individuals were injured in an explosion on Tayuman and Dagupan Streets in Tondo, Manila. The blast was caused by a dismantled air-conditioning compressor that was being scavenged. One of the victims sustained a severed hand and another suffered a jaw injury, while two others had minor injuries. The Manila Police District's Explosive Ordnance Division and Scene of the Crime Operatives are investigating the incident and have ruled out a bomb as the cause.
