In a statement released on social media on Saturday, August 2, hospital officials asserted that standard protocols and emergency procedures were strictly followed during the cesarean section.

The hospital’s statement came after several social media posts blamed the medical facility for the deaths.
Accusations surfaced regarding alleged delays in attending to the patient, claiming Elsie arrived at the hospital around 8 a.m. but was only attended to by 1 p.m.

Jennifer Canane, the victim’s cousin, alleged in a social media post that the attending physician administered anesthesia to Elsie in preparation for the cesarean section.
Canane said Elsie screamed in pain after the injection and later died after giving birth, with foam coming out of her mouth. She also claimed the baby had a laceration on its face.
“Naa siyay mga lagom asta ang bata naay samad sa nawng wala me kahibaw og gi onsa ni sila sa doctor og ngano naa silay ingon ani,” she added.
Elsie’s husband, Mario, sought assistance from the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office on Friday to request an autopsy and inquire about the baby’s facial wound.
The hospital clarified that Elsie was first brought to Carajay Maternity before being transferred to their emergency room at 11 a.m. due to a face presentation, a high-risk obstetric condition.
They said two scheduled surgeries were rescheduled to prioritize Elsie’s urgent cesarean section.
