Amidst the onslaught of monsoon rains and flooding, 86-year-old Marieta De Asis Tiria made a heartfelt plea to see her family again before it’s too late.

Tiria, along with neighbor Donna Fausto, was rescued from the rising floodwaters and brought to the San Dionisio Sports Complex evacuation center after their area in Sitio San Antonio, Olivarez Compound, Greenhills, Barangay San Dionisio was submerged.

Fausto, who has known Tiria since 2009, revealed that the elderly woman, suffering from diabetes and a chest wound, could no longer walk and was forced to crawl to her house to seek assistance.

"Naiyak ako sa itsura ni Nanay. Kasi maraming batikos. Porke siya tumatanggap ng pension. Mga kapitbahay, pinagdidirihan siya, maamoy daw. Bakit daw ako hindi ko daw pinagdirihan? Kasi masakit sa loob ko na makita 'yung tao na gumagapang, kulang sa pagkain. Wala siyang suporta. 'Pag naubos na si pera galing sa social pension, utang dito, utang do'n. Napapabayaan siya. Kasi ang ang kwan talaga sa loob ko, kahit anong hirap, dinamayan ko siya," Fausto shared.

She added, "Nakita ko po na pinandidirihan siya ng iba. Pero hindi ko po siya tinalikuran. Kahit sinasabi ng iba, 'bakit mo tinutulungan, hindi mo naman kadugo?' Ang sa akin lang, anong masama sa pagtulong sa kapwa?"

Fausto also mentioned that she had tried contacting Tiria’s relatives, including niece Lany from Cavite, but received no response.

Cris Bulagao of the San Dionisio Fire and Rescue stated that city health officials have assessed Tiria and may bring her to the hospital.

“Sa ngayon po, si Nanay ay hindi na nakakapagsalita nang maayos. Puro gestures na lang ang paraan ng pakikipag-ugnayan niya," Bulagao said.

His death was ruled accidental, and the case remains open under file number 2025-04377. Tantoco passed away on March 8 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, a day after attending the Manila International Film Festival. He is survived by his wife Dina Arroyo, niece of former First Gentleman Mike Arroyo, and their three children.
