According to a report by Bea Pinlac on Balitanghali this Friday, one of the suspects was caught on video speaking with a 56-year-old female resident of Barangay San Isidro.

The woman handed her a piece of paper while the two other companions waited near the gate.

Meron silang dalang solicitation letter.”

This prompted the resident to alert barangay officials, saying it wasn’t the first time the trio had fabricated stories and documents to collect money from locals.

The barangay also discovered that the women had used an old death certificate in a previous scam. This time, they presented a fake solicitation letter.

The suspects, aged 38, 37, and 23, confessed they’d been running the scam for a year due to financial hardship, sometimes collecting up to P1,000 a day.
