According to a report by EJ Gomez on "Unang Balita" on Tuesday, police said the 29-year-old victim was walking along Samagta Floodway in Barangay San Juan around 5 a.m. on Monday when the 38-year-old suspect held her up.

And then nu’ng nagpumiglas yung ating victim, doon niya na inundayan ng saksak gamit ‘yung ice pick,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Marlo Solero, chief of Taytay Police.

The victim, who lost her cellphone, is currently recovering in the hospital.

The suspect admitted to the crime, saying, “Gawa lang po ng pangangailangan.

He claimed to have thrown the weapon into a river.

Patawarin niyo po ako,” he said.

He will face charges of robbery with frustrated h&micide.
