Woman shot dead in the face by unknown gunman in Tondo

A woman was tragically killed after being shot in the face by an unidentified gunman at the GK Compound in Tondo, Manila.

According to a report by Jhomer Apresto on Unang Balita on Tuesday, residents were seen fleeing the area around 12 a.m. after the victim was gunned down in a nearby alley.

“Pagpasok ko sa loob, may nakita nga akong nakabulagta na babae. Tapos tumawag na ako ng pulis. Ang tama niya po sa mukha eh,” said a witness known only as “Mike.” He identified the victim as someone he knew, who went by the alias “Rina.”

Police immediately arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area for investigation.

Barangay officials revealed that they had patrolled the area on Monday night and even spoke to the victim just minutes before the shooting.

“Sabi nga ni kagawad ‘yung batang kakilala nu’ng nabaril na papasukin ‘yung mga bata. Pagkatapos noon, noong nasa barangay na kami, may isang concerned citizen na tumawag sa amin na meron daw naganap na shooting incident dito,” said Paul Festijo, a barangay tanod from Barangay 105.

Some residents reported hearing only a single gunshot.

They also noted that the victim was last seen with her live-in partner shortly before her death. The partner is currently missing.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify the gunman and determine the motive behind the fatal attack.

QCPD is reviewing CCTV footage and has urged the involved drivers to cooperate with the investigation.

Still in other news, a 16-year-old girl in Antipolo accused a tricycle driver of forcibly taking her to a hotel instead of bringing her home after work around 3 a.m. The victim said the driver ignored her pleas and sped up when she asked to be let off, "binilisan pa niya lalo 'yung takbo ng tricycle niya, natatakot na po ako nun." At the hotel, CCTV showed the driver holding her arm, and the girl said: "hihingi po sana ako ng tulong kaso natatakot po ako sa kanya."
