According to Police Major Zandrex Panolong, spokesperson of the Iligan City Police Office (CPO), the suspect's child played a key role in the early stages of the investigation.
“Immediately, we considered the ex-partner a person of interest. When we went to his home, we encountered their child, who said, ‘My father works at a hardware store.’ The child also noticed blood stains on his father’s shorts,” PMaj Panolong shared.
Following the tip, authorities were able to locate and arrest the suspect, who later confessed to committing the crime.
The motive behind the fatal stabbing has not yet been disclosed, but investigators suspect it may be linked to a personal dispute.
Meanwhile, Edna’s tragic death has sparked concerns about domestic violence and women’s safety, particularly among those trying to escape abusive relationships.
Police continue to gather evidence as they prepare to file formal charges against the suspect. The case remains under investigation.
