A motorcycle rider lost his life after allegedly driving under the influence and falling into a large road excavation in Makilala, Cotabato.

According to a report by GMA Regional TV, the fatal accident occurred on Friday in Barangay Poblacion. CCTV footage showed the rider speeding and veering away from two road signages warning about an ongoing road construction.
As a result, the motorcycle crashed into barriers and plunged into a large, water-filled hole on the road.
The excavation site is part of a construction project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region XII.

Authorities said the rider was allegedly drunk at the time of the incident. His body was recovered nearly thirty minutes after the accident was reported.
The motorcycle was later retrieved from the excavation site.
The local police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Meanwhile, GMA Regional TV is still attempting to secure a statement from DPWH Region XII regarding the safety measures implemented at the construction site.
The incident has raised concerns among residents about the visibility and effectiveness of road warning signs in active construction zones, particularly at night when many accidents occur.

Still in other news, a 16-year-old girl in Antipolo accused a tricycle driver of forcibly taking her to a hotel instead of bringing her home after work around 3 a.m. The victim said the driver ignored her pleas and sped up when she asked to be let off, "binilisan pa niya lalo 'yung takbo ng tricycle niya, natatakot na po ako nun." At the hotel, CCTV showed the driver holding her arm, and the girl said: *"hihingi po sana ako ng tulong kaso natatakot po ako sa kanya." The hotel cashier refused to let them check in after suspecting something was wrong, prompting the girl to threaten to report the driver, who then fled the scene, according to ABS-CBN.
