Ex-convict kills police officer, injures another in Carmona Station shooting

A police officer was killed and another injured after a recently released ex-convict allegedly grabbed a firearm and opened fire inside a police station in Carmona, Cavite.

According to a report by Nimfa Ravelo on Super Radyo dzBB this Thursday, the incident occurred Wednesday morning.

The suspect, known only as alias “Al,” had just been released from Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm on June 28 after serving time for a h&micide conviction.

Police reports from the Cavite Police Provincial Office stated that the suspect was brought to the station after being reported for trespassing.

While in custody, he allegedly managed to grab a firearm and fire at the officers.

One police officer was critically hit and later died at the hospital after sustaining two gunshot wounds. Another officer was wounded in the leg during the exchange.

Responding officers returned fire and neutralized the suspect on the spot.

The incident has raised serious concerns over security protocols inside police stations.

In response, the leadership of the Cavite Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered a review and reassessment of station-level procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The tragic shooting has drawn attention to the handling of recently released inmates and the need for tighter control within detention areas, especially during processing.

Authorities are expected to submit a full incident report as the investigation continues.

The name of the deceased officer has not yet been publicly released pending notification of next of kin.

At the hotel, CCTV showed the driver holding her arm, and the girl said: *"hihingi po sana ako ng tulong kaso natatakot po ako sa kanya." The hotel cashier refused to let them check in after suspecting something was wrong, prompting the girl to threaten to report the driver, who then fled the scene, according to ABS-CBN.
