A 47-year-old taxi driver was found dead with a gunshot wound inside his vehicle on Wednesday morning in Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

According to a report by Decemay Padilla on Super Radyo dzBB, the victim was a resident of Barangay Bankal in the same city.

Authorities responded to the scene after concerned citizens reported a motionless man inside a parked taxi.

The driver’s wife told investigators that her husband had no known enemies.

She shared that he left home in the early hours of the morning to begin his shift after receiving a booking.

Their child, however, suspects that the victim may have fallen prey to a robbery, as early details from the scene suggest possible foul play.

The presence of a gunshot wound and the absence of personal belongings have fueled speculation that the incident could have been a holdup turned deadly.

The Lapu-Lapu City police have launched a thorough investigation into the case.

They are reviewing nearby CCTV footage and trying to trace the last booking that the victim received. Authorities have yet to identify any suspects or determine a clear motive for the killing.

At the hotel, CCTV showed the driver holding her arm, and the girl said: *"hihingi po sana ako ng tulong kaso natatakot po ako sa kanya." The hotel cashier refused to let them check in after suspecting something was wrong, prompting the girl to threaten to report the driver, who then fled the scene, according to ABS-CBN.
