Husband shoots wife over money dispute in Pagadian City

The victim was identified as Rechelle Somok-Nelzaro, 30, while the suspect is her husband, 32-year-old Corporal Jimboy Nelzaro.

According to reports, Rechelle had just returned home from church when a heated argument broke out between the couple, reportedly during a downpour.

Brigada News PH reported that the suspect asked his wife for P2,000, but she refused to give him the money.

The disagreement escalated, and in a fit of rage, the husband allegedly fired his gun, hitting his wife in the leg.

Rechelle was rushed to a nearby hospital where she received medical treatment for the injury. Fortunately, the gunshot wound was not fatal.

Authorities stated that the suspect appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

His behavior has raised serious concerns, especially given his position as a military officer.

An investigation into the case, and appropriate charges are expected to be filed against Corporal Nelzaro.

The incident has sparked outrage among residents and calls for stricter disciplinary action against law enforcers involved in domestic violence.

Meanwhile, Rechelle is recovering and remains under medical supervision as legal proceedings begin.

In another viral local report, a 51-year-old public school teacher in Las Piñas City was stabbed multiple times by her own husband. According to the report of EJ Gomez in 'Unang Balita,' the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school's faculty room. Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
