According to a report by News5, concerned bystanders heard cries for help coming from the drainage.

Upon closer inspection, they discovered that someone was stuck underneath.

A delivery rider stepped in to assist, helping to remove a metal rod and lift the concrete slab covering the hole.

Moments later, one of the trapped men emerged, visibly shaken but safe.

Soon after, another man was also found inside the same drainage system.

Both individuals explained that they had been assigned by a neighbor to fix a broken septic tank.

However, during the task, unexpected rain caused water levels to rise rapidly inside the drainage, forcing them to search desperately for an alternate exit.

Fortunately, thanks to the timely intervention of the bystanders and the delivery rider, the two men avoided serious harm.

The situation could have taken a dangerous turn had they not been heard in time.

This incident highlights the risks faced by informal workers and the importance of ensuring proper safety protocols when handling repairs in confined spaces, especially those prone to flooding.

Local authorities have yet to comment on whether an official investigation or safety review will be conducted following the incident.
