A police officer was killed while six of his colleagues sustained injuries after their vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier in Alabel, Sarangani.

According to a report by Jerwen Paglinawan of Super Radyo General Santos on Dobol B TV, both the Sarangani Provincial Police Office and the Police Regional Office 12 confirmed that all the victims were members of the Regional Headquarters Support Unit of Police Regional Office 12.
Initial investigations revealed that the group of seven police officers was on their way to General Santos City after attending the wake of a colleague’s mother when the tragic accident occurred in Barangay Poblacion.

One of the officers, who held the rank of Police Executive Master Sergeant, died from the impact of the crash.
“Patay ang isa sa kanila na may ranggong Police Executive Master Sergeant sa lakas ng impact,” the report stated.
The six other officers are currently recovering at a hospital.
“Kasalukuyang nagpapagaling sa ospital ang mga sugatang pulis,” authorities added.
As of this writing, further details about what caused the driver to lose control remain under investigation.
Authorities are also looking into whether road conditions or mechanical failure contributed to the crash.
The incident has sparked concern among police officials and the local community, highlighting the risks law enforcement officers face, even while off-duty or attending personal matters.
The Police Regional Office 12 has assured the public that support and assistance will be provided to the injured officers and the family of the fallen comrade.
