The dramatic incident unfolded along EDSA Balintawak in Barangay Balingasa, leading to a successful and safe childbirth.

The remarkable scene transpired as QCPD personnel were conducting routine patrols in the vicinity.

A visibly distressed pregnant woman, later identified by authorities under the alias “Cristina,” approached the officers, urgently seeking help as she experienced intense labor pains.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert Cruz, the head of the QCPD unit, the situation rapidly escalated.

“She sat down right there,” Cruz recounted, referring to the woman's immediate need to deliver. “The baby was already coming out. So, our personnel did not hesitate; they immediately assisted her... to provide first aid and support.”

The impromptu delivery by the roadside of a major highway like EDSA, notorious for its heavy traffic and constant movement, underscored the urgency of the situation.

The police officers, whose training primarily focuses on law enforcement and public order, swiftly adapted to the unforeseen medical emergency, acting as impromptu first responders.

Their rapid and composed actions were instrumental in ensuring the safety and well-being of both the mother and the newborn in an environment ill-suited for childbirth.

Following the immediate intervention by the QCPD officers, a barangay ambulance was promptly dispatched to the scene.

Emergency medical personnel then took over, transporting Cristina and her new baby to a nearby hospital for comprehensive medical care and observation.

Despite the highly unusual circumstances of the delivery, reports confirm that both Cristina and her newborn are in stable condition and have since been discharged, returning to their home.

The precise reasons for Cristina being in such a vulnerable situation on the highway at dawn remain unclear.

ABS-CBN News is reportedly attempting to reach out to the woman for further details regarding the circumstances that led to her roadside labor.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Cruz has officially recommended the QCPD officers involved in the incident for commendation.

Their decisive and compassionate response exemplifies the expanded role of police personnel in urban areas, often finding themselves at the front lines of diverse emergencies that extend beyond typical law enforcement duties.

The incident serves as a testament to the dedication and preparedness of police forces to assist the public in any capacity needed.
