The arrest, conducted by Taytay Police, was made by virtue of an outstanding warrant for the capital offense.

According to investigations by law enforcement authorities, the accused allegedly shot and killed his neighbor in 2013.

PCol. Felipe B. Maraggun, Provincial Director of the Rizal Provincial Police Office, stated that the victim suffered a fatal gunshot wound, purportedly at the hands of the suspect, reportedly driven by a “personal grudge.”

This significant development marks a crucial step in a case that has remained open for over eleven years.

Upon his arrest, the accused vehemently denied involvement in the 2013 hom1cide. He claimed to have been at his residence when the incident occurred, only learning of the tragedy the following day.

“Nandun lang po ako nun sa may sa amin, tapos nabalitaan na lang po namin kinabukasan na ganun po yung nangyari. Hindi po talaga ako yun. Tinuturo lang po ako, o may galit lang po sa akin talaga yung nagsabi na ako daw po yung gumawa nun,” the accused asserted.

He further contended that he was being falsely accused, suggesting that someone held a grudge against him and unfairly implicated him in the crime. He also maintained that he did not know the deceased victim.

Police records indicate that the recently apprehended individual has a history of prior arrests for various alleged offenses, painting a picture of repeated encounters with the justice system.

In February of the current year, he was reportedly taken into custody on charges of alarm and scandal and disobedience to an agent of a person in authority.

Regarding this incident, the accused claimed he was intoxicated and reacted impulsively due to frustration with what he described as “shameless people” in his community.

Prior to that, in 2021, he was also reportedly apprehended in Batangas on a qualified theft charge, purportedly for stealing a watch. Similar to his defense in the murder case, the accused denied the theft allegation, claiming he was framed.

“'Di ko naman po talaga kinuha 'yun,” he stated. “Yung totoo po nun, nilagay lang po nila yung sa bag ko. Parang frameup po ako ng mga kasamahan ng boss ko.”

The suspect is currently held at the custodial facility of the Taytay Municipal Police Station, where he awaits further legal proceedings for the murder charge.

The apprehension underscores the persistent efforts of law enforcement to pursue cases, even those spanning many years, in their commitment to delivering justice and holding individuals accountable for serious crimes.

The ongoing investigation will now delve deeper into the evidence surrounding the 2013 shooting and evaluate the suspect's claims in light of the gathered information.
