Three women tragically lost their lives after being struck by a car in Barangay Pungtod, Cabatuan, Iloilo on the morning of June 14, Saturday.

The incident occurred at around 7:05 a.m., according to a report from Brigada News PH.

Initial investigations revealed that two of the victims were crossing the road, while the third was collecting plastic bottles when the car hit them.

Authorities identified the driver as a 20-year-old college student who was reportedly on his way home to Maasin after a group study session.

He allegedly fell asleep while behind the wheel, leading to the fatal accident.

The victims were identified as 73-year-old Alberta, 53-year-old Fely, and 59-year-old Heidi. All three women were pronounced dead at the scene.

The local community has been left in shock over the sudden and tragic loss.

Residents have expressed concern over road safety and the dangers posed by driver fatigue.

The case has been turned over to authorities for further investigation, and charges may be filed depending on the results.

The families of the victims are calling for accountability and justice, emphasizing the need for responsible driving.

According to the report of GMA Regional TV, the victim, Mat Ernest Bongo brought his female co-worker home and it was thereafter that the alleged assault took place. He sustained injuries in different parts of his body. Based on the report, the victim was also allegedly robbed by the same group.
