In the Philippines, a driver who hits a person and causes their death, then leaves the scene, can face serious legal consequences.

This act is considered a hit-and-run, which is a criminal offense under Philippine law.

The driver may be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in hom!cide. If it is proven that the driver did not stop to help the victim or report the incident, the penalties can be more severe.

The law requires drivers involved in accidents to assist the victim and inform the authorities. Failing to do so may lead to imprisonment, fines, cancellation of the driver's license, and even a lifetime driving ban depending on the case.

The penalties are harsher if there is proof of negligence or if the driver was under the influence of alcohol or dr*gs.
