A man was shot and killed by his friend and drinking buddy during a heated incident in Passi City, Iloilo, according to a report aired Wednesday on Super Radyo dzBB by Sevein Hope Gegantoca of Super Radyo Iloilo.

The fatal shooting occurred in a hut owned by the suspect in Barangay Aglalana, where the two had been drinking.

According to initial investigations, the suspect became enraged after the victim made a sarcastic remark about the absence of food or “pulutan” during their drinking session.

The victim allegedly escalated the tension by breaking a glass.

The suspect then reportedly took a firearm and shot the victim multiple times.

The victim sustained five gunshot wounds to the back, which led to his immediate death.

Police promptly responded to the incident and arrested the suspect. He is now in custody and is facing a charge of h&micide.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the case to determine whether other charges may be filed, and to uncover more details about the events that led to the shooting.

This case highlights the deadly consequences of letting minor disputes escalate under the influence of alcohol and the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully.

Still in other news, a 65-year-old man, Nestor Rensales, died after voting in Oas, Albay during the midterm elections. Rensales, a stroke survivor, felt dizzy and collapsed shortly after casting his vote at Oas South Central Elementary School, ABS-CBN reported. His wife shared that he insisted on voting despite the heat and early crowd, believing his vote still mattered. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
