Authorities in Antipolo City have arrested a 40-year-old man, identified only by his alias “Pablo,” after he was allegedly found in possession of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” with an estimated street value of almost P700,000.

The arrest followed a predawn foot chase in Barangay San Roque, as detailed in a report aired on Balitanghali on Monday.
According to closed-circuit television footage released by the Antipolo Police, the suspect, wearing a white t-shirt and a helmet, was seen walking in a market area in Barangay San Roque at approximately 4:00 AM.
Patrolling police officers approached the individual, at which point he reportedly fled on foot, prompting a pursuit by the authorities.

As the police closed in, the suspect allegedly discarded a bag he was carrying. Upon recovering the abandoned bag, the officers discovered its contents to include a weighing scale and a single package containing 100 grams of suspected shabu.
The estimated value of the seized narcotics is placed at P680,000.
Police investigation has revealed that the suspect is believed to be a member of a drug traff1cking syndicate operating within Antipolo City.
Authorities indicated that the seized drug5 were likely intended for distribution and had not yet been broken down into smaller, street-level quantities.
Furthermore, police reports suggest a more sinister aspect to the suspect’s alleged involvement in the drug group.
Authorities claim that “Pablo” was also tasked by the syndicate to carry out killings of lower-ranking members who failed to remit their drug proceeds.
In his defense, the suspect claimed to be merely a courier and stated that the illegal drug5 belonged to an associate.
Police records, however, indicate a prior arrest and conviction of the suspect on charges related to illegal drug5.
Additionally, an outstanding arrest warrant for murder was also found to be pending against him, a charge he denied.
The suspect now faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug5 Act of 2002.
He is currently in the custody of the Antipolo Component City Police Station custodial facility, where he will await further legal proceedings.
The authorities are expected to conduct further investigation to dismantle the drug syndicate he is allegedly connected to and to ascertain the veracity of the murder warrant.
