A 58-year-old man, identified only by the alias "Dodong," landed in jail after hacking his friend over an unpaid ₱250 debt in Antique on May 16, 2025.

According to police reports, the incident occurred when Dodong passed by his 53-year-old friend, alias "Arman," who was drinking with companions.
Dodong approached Arman to ask for payment of the small debt. When Arman failed to pay, Dodong lost his temper and hacked him.
The victim suffered a severe wound to his nose, which required immediate medical attention and surgery.

Authorities confirmed that the injury was caused by a sharp weapon, though they did not specify the type.
Dodong was arrested shortly after the incident and is now in police custody.
During questioning, he admitted to the crime and expressed remorse. “I was just overwhelmed with anger and regret what I did,” he reportedly told investigators.
Police say that despite the relatively small amount involved, the violent response remains inexcusable.
“No amount of debt justifies such an act of violence,” said one local officer.
The suspect is expected to face charges related to physical injury or frustrated h&micide, depending on the medical assessment of the victim’s condition.
Authorities urge the public to seek peaceful and legal means in resolving conflicts, especially those involving money, to avoid escalation and tragedy.

His wife shared that he insisted on voting despite the heat and early crowd, believing his vote still mattered. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
